Ang Daraga Church, na kilala sa bansa, ay nagsimulang itayo noong 1773 matapos payagang ilipat ng mga taga-Cagsawa ang kanilang sentro ng bayan upang maiwasan ang mga sakuna na dala ng pagputok ng Mt. Mayon at pagbaha ng Yawa River.
Simbahan ng Our Lady of the Gate

How old is the Daraga Church in Albay?
250 years old - c. 1773
The church is known for its Churrigueresque architectural style in its façade, a fine example of Baroque architecture. The façade and its walls are made out of volcanic rocks, which are rich in the area. The current white façade is the result of a coating of lime for protection from deterioration.
In 2008, Daraga church was recognized with a Level II Historical marker by the National Historical Institute. Built on top of a hill by the Franciscans in 1773, the Daraga Church offers an unimpeded scenic landscape dominated by its rich Baroque church architecture.
When Mayon Volcano erupted in 1814, it destroyed houses and properties in Cagsawa, Albay and the nearby towns. People could have rebuilt their lives and moved on, but the center of their faith, the Cagsawa Church was also destroyed.
