13th Tam-awan International Arts Festival TIAF 2023 Tam-awan Village 25th Anniversary LOCATION: Ridgeview Transient 233-A, Benin Road, Pinsao Proper, Baguio City, Philippines In every stage of our life someone leaves, and someone comes. and every experience we meet a new friend and every trip we go on we learn something.

As an artist I am happy to meet this person, very simple but full of experience in life and art. one of my fellow artists, Jonathan Joven, introduced him to me, and this is where our conversation and companionship began when we were at the Tam-Awan festival.


His name is ADAN, by the way Adan was one of the great artists back then who made portrait landscapes, figurative, painting reproduction and etc. one of the important History in the Philippines.



Especially in the art scene or the livelihood of artists then made paintings in the area of Mabini, in Greater Manila called Mabini Art. but now it's a dead industry that we don't see anyone making art in Mabini anymore.

At the length of what we talked about, we ended up in this situation where I would be the model and he would paint.
There is another chapter for us to continue the matter of Mabini art. but for now we'll enjoy being productive. it's a different feeling when you are the model and not the one painting. This is how to paint a portrait with watercolor made by Adan.

This self-taught artist started his career in Mabini 1995. And apprenticed for several artists including Cesar Zarbal, portraitist Antonio Martinez, landscapist Rey Ademis, colorist Abe Lucas, master artist Ador De Vera, and one of Magic Realist Members Jaime Roque.

He started his career in 1995 in Mabini, Manila as “Manchador” for Cesar Zarbal, A Mabini Artist specializing in portraits. Then an antique shop owner con painter hired him as his “Ghost Artist” copying European masterpieces and religious paintings. In the year 2000, he returned to Mabini and continued as an in-house artist doing Amorsolo reproductions, figurative and portraits.
