Popular destinations in Philippines:
PHILIPPINE BOOK FESTIVAL
World Trade Center, Pasay City

One of the highlights of the Philippine Book Festival event. Are his two novel books "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo" written by our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal. And other rare collections of our National Library of the Philippines.

RIZAL FIRST BOOK - Noli me tangere In 1887 Rizal published his first novel, Noli me tangere
(The Social Cancer), a passionate exposure of the evils of Spanish rule in the Philippines.

written in Spanish, a searing indictment of clerical abuse as well as of colonial rule's shortcomings.

That same year, he returned to Manila, where the Noli had been banned and its author now hated intensely by the friars.

He was struggling with financial constraints at the time and thought it would be hard to pursue printing the novel.

His friend Mรกximo Viola provided some financial aid, enabling Rizal to have the book printed at Berliner Buchdruckerei-Aktiengesellschaft in Berlin. Viola loaned Rizal ₱300 for 2,000 copies.

Mรกximo Viola y Sison (October 17, 1857 – September 3, 1933)
was a propagandist, writer, revolutionary leader and doctor from Bulacan, Philippines.

Maximo S. Viola will constantly be remembered as the man who saved the Noli Me Tangere for posterity. More than that, he served the Filipino people by supporting Dr. Jose Rizal in his advocacy for nationalism, which inspired the Philippine Revolution.

The Purpose of Book Festival

The festival is organized by the National Book Development Board (NBDB), a government agency tasked with advancing the country's literary industry. They said that the four-day event is meant to “promote a culture of reading and develop the publishing industry in the Philippines.”
Philippine Book Festival 2024

When I went here to the Philippine book festival. There are still some of our countrymen who still enjoy reading. This is a good sign for all Filipinos, to expand knowledge and education. And some came just to be curious. We also had children who were seen at the opening of the event at the book festival turning the page even in the modern age of technology and gadgets.

There is still something enticing to read. In a book festival like this, local artists, writers and publishers can help a lot in making a good story in a book. So, let's support them. Books are full of knowledge, they give us life lessons, and teach us about hardships, love, fear, dreams and let our imaginations travel in every story we read.

Even the little things that are part of our lives. We can learn a lesson from the stories. Books have been around for centuries and contain knowledge of our past, civilizations, and arts and cultures.
Its main purpose is to express, explain, preserve, and convey knowledge and information to people.
So come here!

At the Philippine book festival, increase reading knowledge.

It’s not just a book fair, it’s a book experience!
