Welcome to Tam-awan Village
A venue for art and cultural activities that would enhance appreciation of culture and beauty. Tam-awan Village in Pinsao Proper, Baguio City uniquely blends indigenous aesthetics and exquisite Cordilleran craftsmanship with an artist’s concept for a village adapting to Baguio setting.
Chanum Foundation, Inc., founded in 1998, began to reconstruct Ifugao houses in Baguio with the view of making a model village accessible to people who have not had the chance to travel to the Cordillera interior.
Aside from its café, Tam-awan Village also has its own craft shop showcasing different products such as Cordilleran attire and woven products, brass accessories, and wood carved decorations to name a few. The craft shop is a venue located within the village to help promote local products and to provide assistance to community-based businesses in the area.
Tam-awan Village is a small community of huts that is preserved and maintained by cordilleran artist. Rent one of the native hut to feel how our ancestor’s lived before.
Each hut is the original hut that came from different provinces of the Cordillera. It’s a must see and new experience for travelers to discover.
This year ART CAMP was formed and this is the first participation of my formed group with my son Jeyus a.k.a Galactic Kid.

• Tam-awan Village Cordillera Huts
- We draw and document to preserve authentic huts from Sagada and Kalinga.
1. Luccong Hut- Upper Class Kalinga Hut: ca. 1923
The Binayon (Finaryon) or The Traditional Octagon House.
This hut was found in Luccong, Butbut, Kalinga. This house is one of the three surviving binayon houses in Butbot area. The Binayon, a generation ago was considered as a dwelling place for the rich Kalinga and the square houses are less aristocratic.

2. Dukligan hut - Ifugao Hut: ca. 1937
The Fertility Hut is where a married couple resides after a year of inability to produce a child.
The shaman performs a ritual offering to the male and female bulols. The couple will then stay in the hut, for a month. If after this period expires and still, they are unable to produce a child, the man has the right to find another woman, although marriage is still in effect.
The cycle is repeated and then the woman may now find another man. The purpose of which is to determine who among the couple is infertile.
3. Anaba hut - It was built in 1898.
is the oldest hut in the village. Authentic Ifugao Hut from, Anaba, Banaue, Ifugao.
4. Alang - The Alang is the Bontoc Rice Granary.
The bul-ul(s) (Rice God/s) were placed inside the Alang to guard their harvest.
More than just being a home for many artists and their masterpieces, the village is also labeled by some as a living museum as it has managed to salvage authentic huts from Sagada and Kalinga. This effort has since enabled visitors to have a glimpse of and experience Cordilleran culture.
