My Social Commentary
Year after year this scene is not new to us that we are always submerged in floods. The Philippines is the country most affected by these typhoons and other calamities. Which causes loss of human life, extensive property damage and piles of garbage.
This painting shows that we need to take action as Filipinos to protect our environment. we have to change our habits we all have a role and responsibility.
I made this artwork at the height of
typhoon Carina's devastation
"I made this artwork at the height of typhoon
Carina's devastation that almost submerged the entire metropolis of Manila. many experienced flooding and destruction of belongings and loss of life. And
also, pets are one of those left at home.
But I'm still thankful that I didn't
experience flooding because I live high up. which will not be reached by high
floods. But I can feel the heavy downpour that I know will affect someone if it
doesn't stop, especially those who live in low-lying areas."
The problem is to make a solution mainly because human activities, which destroy the environment, such as mining, deforestation and dumping waste everywhere, increase the risk of flooding.
I hope we have environmental awareness that can also be taught in schools. in other words, DISCIPLINE is really the solution.

"Real face of Siquijor" Agimat and Gayuma The Spaniards called the island Isla del Fuego ("Island of Fire"), because the island gave off an eerie glow, from the great swarms of fireflies that lived in the numerous molave trees on the island. Prior to colonization, Siquijor was home to the Kedatuan of Katugasan, named after the tugas, the molave trees which abounded the island. The native dwellers of the island used these trees to build posts (haligi) for their houses because of their strength and durability that could withstand strong typhoons and monsoons.
